If you are interested in donating a new or gently used children's book, come and drop off your books at the library between the hours of 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Once the drive ends, volunteers from Read to Me and LIbros for Kids will pick up the books.
The library applied for and received a generous grant from the Save the Children Fund. The funds will be used to purchase supplies and materials for arts and crafts and kits for STEAM-H projects, as well as prizes and incentives for the students who participate in reading 20 minutes a day and engage in the activities and story hour at the library. This is very exciting because it is the first time the library has funding for these activities. We are very grateful for this organization that focuses on initiatives to help children all over the world in the areas of health, education, protection, policy and advocacy, and emergency response. The goal of Color's Community Testing Program is to Provide a program that meets the needs to keep our population safe and comply with COVID-19 testing regulations with minimal resource and time allocation.
Step 1: Participants register their test using the QR codes or URLs on the 11x17 signage or registration fliers. A registration flier will be handed out with each test.
Step 2: Participant must active a sample in order for it to be processed. If a sample arrives at the lab unactivated, it will be destroyed and will not be processed.
Step 3: Participants will collect their sample and place the tube back into the bag and seal it. Return the sample to the dedicated collection bin.
Participants should take a picture of their barcode card located in the bag with their test kit in case they need to get in touch with Patient Support.
*Participants must complete each step, register, activate and return their sample on the same day or their test will not be processed and they will not receive results.
Step 1: Participants will be notified via text and email, if provided, when their results are ready to be viewed. The text message will not contain information about the type of result.
Step 2: Participants click on the notification from the text or email link and arrive at a home screen that indicates the results are ready and what date the testing was conducted. Participants will need to enter their date of birth and barcode card to access their results.
Come to the library from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm every Monday to pick up a test and complete a swab. All tests need to be at the library by 5:00 pm on the same day.

Want us to bring you a test kit? If you aren't feeling well or don't want to come inside, we can bring a COVID-19 test kit out to you.
The David F. Cargo El Valle de Anton Chico Library hosted their community conversation on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 5:00 pm. There were eight community stakeholders/patrons in attendance. The topic focused on identifying what resources and programs would assist in increasing the usage of the library and its services. In addition, the participants identified potential issues for the lack of use as well as provided some suggestions and brainstormed ideas on addressing the issues.
The participants engaged in some reasons why some people are not currently using the library, researching and identifying resources and demographics of the community, assessing the current library practices and evaluating the current collection and accessibility of the library. The participants completed a needs assessment related to visioning what the library could be using a worksheet from a toolkit from the Rural Libraries and Social Wellbeing project website.
The participants decided that a community engagement survey needs to be created and administered throughout the community to gather information on the needs of the patrons as well as skills and talents of these members. Potential partnerships were discussed and activities and programs were identified that are of interest and would benefit the community. The conversation went well and the participants were excited about contributing to increasing the success of the library and its programs and services.

Library Director and representative, Breezy Gutierrez, attended the monthly Guadalupe County Commissioner's Meeting on July 16, 2020. The library was on the agenda requesting assistance for the library. The library was in need of a fiscal agent to request GO Bond funding for the acquisition of computers for patron and staff use. In addition, the library was requesting assistance with the development of a parking lot area using donated millings requested through the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
The County Commissioners agreed to assist with the requests and the motion passed 3-0 for serving as a fiscal agent and providing the necessary means to developing the parking lot.
Thank you Guadalupe County for supporting our efforts to assist the community!!
